How to ask for a certificate
Name the certificate you need, the market or standard it relates to, and the products it must cover, in your inquiry. Ask for the document itself, and check the document for the certificate name, the issuing body, the validity dates and the scope of products covered. A certificate that covers one product does not automatically cover another, and a certificate that has expired does not satisfy a current requirement.
If the certificate you need cannot be supplied, that fact should be established before the order is placed, not after delivery. A buyer who discovers a missing certificate at the point of sale or at customs has no good remedy, whereas a buyer who discovers it at the inquiry stage can choose a different supplier or a different product.
Certificates and labels
A certificate and a label claim are different things. A label that refers to a certificate or a standard should only be used if the certificate or standard actually applies to the product, and the label wording should be agreed before production. A buyer who needs a label claim should raise it together with the certificate request, so both can be confirmed in the same exchange.
Please confirm the minimum order quantity, the sample arrangement and the lead time in the same inquiry, and keep any certificate document with the order record.
